Taproot Press
‘Taproot Press is a vital and necessary new voice in publishing. It’s rooted in Scotland but international in outlook.’ – James Robertson
Taproot Press is a publisher of literary fiction, non-fiction and poetry, started in 2020 by two University of Edinburgh students, Patrick Jamieson and Daniela Silva, with the help of editor Jennie Renton and poets Robert Alan Jamieson and Miranda Pearson.
Established during the Covid-19 pandemic, it transcended the distance imposed by global lockdowns, connecting those involved across Scotland, Portugal and British Columbia, and it is this spirit that continues in our commitment to publish work from Scotland and the rest of the world, in both native English and translation.
Like the taproot that grows from the radicle of the seed, connecting the underground with the over-ground and the micro with the macro, we prioritise local work with a global perspective, looking beyond the borders of culture, form and identity. Our list includes award-winning writers such as Donald S. Murray, Linda Cracknell, and Eleanor Thom.
