The Last Bird of Paradise
George Zammit’s quest for a quiet life, as a Maltese policeman and soon-to-be grandfather, is disrupted once again with orders to travel to Syria to gather evidence of potential fraud in the refugee camps. Accompanied by his son, Denzel, a seemingly simple mission quickly unravels, as George encounters a deadly former foe and discovers the secrets of The Birds of Paradise. As always, George finds himself in a perilous predicament not of his making.
AJ Aberford
Formerly a lawyer, property company director and, latterly, the owner manager of a Yorkshire craft brewery, AJ Aberford has now retired and turned to writing during the lockdowns of the pandemic. A move to Malta provided the inspiration for the Inspector George Zammit series of five crime and adventure novels set around the Southern Mediterranean. Malta sits midway between Sicily and the North African coast and provides a fascinating backdrop to his writing that draws heavily on organised crime, political corruption and regional conflicts. He loves travel, Mediterranean food, adopting stray cats and riding his bike to secluded swimming spots.
