Kay Inckle
Kay Inckle lives in Liverpool and predominantly writes cli-fi, speculative fiction, and dark political satire which foregrounds minoritised perspectives, particularly disabled women. She has published short stories including Ten Years On and The Virgin Mothers in anthologies by Muswell Press and MTP respectively, and One in a Million was broadcast on Irish National Radio (RTE 1). Just a Job was a finalist in the 2021 London Independent Story Prize and Rainforests Pamper Day was the September (2021) runner up in Those That Breathe, Environmental Stories competition. At The End was longlisted for the 2022 Retreat West short story prize. Overspill (under the title Tipping Point) was a finalist in the 2021 The Book Edit Writer’s Prize – an award for writers from underrepresented backgrounds.
In 2023, Tipping Point was longlisted for the Retreat West First Chapter competition and the Retreat West Opening Lines competition. Kay combines writing with working for a disabled people’s organisation and has a background in social science with a specific focus on intersectional and social justice approaches to disability and mental health. She has published a number of non-fiction titles and research papers. She is also a handcyclist, swimmer, Pilates instructor, environmentalist and vegan.
