OUTSIDELEFTbooks is the print evolution of Outsideleft.com (ISSN 2753-8850), an international music, arts and culture magazine in continuous publication since 2004, championing artists broadly ignored by the mainstream. Established in Los Angeles, and now based in Bearwood in the UK, Outsideleft is inspired in some ways by California’s 1960s Assemblage Artists, the UK’s late ’70s fanzine publishers and the New York post-punk scene, outsiders all. Launched in 2024, OUTSIDELEFTbooks is a real-world counterpart to our website, extending opportunities for our often working-class writers. We curate a space for fiercely independent voices whose fiction and poetry serves as a defiant critique of contemporary culture. Refusing to blend in.
