Horatio is not a hero. Truthfully, Horatio is not a lot of things. But he is lost in a world divided by the light and the dark. Horatio’s family are Luxies—believers in the afterlife, whereas his best friend is an Umbra – a believer in eternal nothingness. When a terrorist attack strikes the city, Horatio’s powerful uncle recruits him to find the culprit. Alongside his best friend, a girl with no memory, a grumpy computer geek, a man named after a bird and the city’s most famous supermodel, Horatio uncovers a vicious underground organisation trying to exploit the most terrifying truth of all: what really happens when we die?

Consumed with modern day hot topics such as sexuality, politics and privilege, this book offers an alternate world to divulge in these discussions. Witty, action-packed and achingly honest, Silenda is a love letter to young people who have ever felt in limbo in a black-and-white world.

Kelsie Stoker

Kelsie Stoker is a twenty-two-year-old writer with a degree in English Literature and English Language and Linguistics from the University of Glasgow. Inspired by the restrictive nature of identity and society’s apparent need for us to define every aspect of our person, Kelsie is passionate about finding the grey area of existence. As a self-confessed logical thinker, she began to feel fulfilled in her pursuit of the in-between. This realisation allowed her to conclude that it is completely okay to be clueless about some things. Kelsie is a passionate feminist and believes that embracing our own ignorance is the true path to peace, equality and understanding.
