Extraordinary Books
Extraordinary Books is a not-for-profit company bringing a radical new approach to publishing. We were founded with a sense of outrage at the ever-growing monopoly exerted by the big publishers, a desire to subvert the current state of the industry.
Here’s what that looks like:
- We’re seeking authors with something singular to contribute – a rare quality, a unique selling point, defying imitation. We’re not driven by market trends; we look for books that are one of a kind. Show the world something it hasn’t seen before.
- Whether you have thousands of followers on social media, or have never heard those two words joined before, we’re committed. No platform? No problem.
- All our books receive equal, substantial attention and marketing budgets. Rather than paying advances, authors share in all profits, 50/50. As for us? We only need enough to keep publishing without compromise. Our authors are partners, not products.
- At the heart of our approach is collaborative curation: our experienced team commissions new work, and our visionary editorial collective helps uncover extraordinary writing. No gates. No sentries.
- Whether speculative fiction, art, memoir or anything in between, our books have this in common: a distinctive pairing of author and subject. If that means publishing niche books, so be it. If it means going beyond the constraints of genre, we’re up for that. If it means taking risks, bring it on.

We welcome submissions from writers and literary agents alike. At Extraordinary Books, we are committed to living up to our name. We seek titles that are singular and distinctively positioned in terms of authorship, content or approach. No one else could write this book, should be the dominant takeaway. Tell us, in no more than 500 words, why and how your book meets any or all of the criteria for ‘extraordinary’ as set out in the FAQs on our website.
