CMP is a small (but perfectly formed!) book manufacturer based in Poole, Dorset, specialising in the production of short-run paperback and hardback books, primarily for the UK's independent publishing sector.

Sustainability

Our sustainability considerations include:

  • We only use FSC-approved materials

  • We can provide the relevant EUDR information that presses need to process their own DDSs

  • We have or subscribe to a tree-planting scheme

  • We subscribe to the Carbon Balanced Paper scheme

  • We use electric vehicles

  • We offer delivery bundling and/or responsible deliveries

  • We offer discounts for bundling orders


Just over 50% of the energy consumed on-site is generated on-site (solar generation). The rest comes from renewable sources.

Carbon footprint offsetting information
Please note: Most of the information on this page is aimed at showing sustainability choices and mesaures; this section demonstrates the printer’s ‘extra mile’ in offsetting their resulting carbon footprint. While it is helpful in showing printers’ attitudes to offsetting, please bear in mind it is of course not necessarily reflective of their total carbon footprint, which we do not ask them to provide here, as printers do not routinely share this information. Data here is provided in percentages only unless otherwise specified by the printer. Information is provided in good faith but presses should exercise caution in relying on figures, and should ask printers for more up-to-date information. We show this information so that presses can use current industry estimates of carbon footprint KGs per book for offsetting, where ~65% of a book’s carbon footprint is in production, transportation accounts for ~25% and packaging makes up ~10%.

Our 'house' book range consists of 70gsm and 80gsm Cream Bookwove, 70gsm White Bookwove, and 80gsm and 100gsm White Offset, but other papers (including 'special' papers) are available from merchant stock. A range of coated and uncoated boards are available for covers.
